The 15th TechNet Conference: Building the next generation of immunization supply chains takes place from 16 to 20 of October 2017
This year’s theme is: Building the next generation of immunization supply chains
Why Portugal? Since 2001, the TechNet Conference has rotated venue across the six WHO regions. The European Region (EURO) previously hosted the 9th TechNet Consultation in 2004 in Antalya, Turkey (http://www.technet-21.org/home/about-technet/timeline). In 2017, it loops back to EURO to host. In consultation with the European Regional Office, it was agreed upon that Portugal would be a good destination.
Given that the last TechNet Consultation had an unprecedented number of participants (261 to be precise) representing all key immunization stakeholders at global, regional and country level, a similar level of interest is anticipated for the next conference. The agenda will continue on the theme of the previous conference focusing on: “Immunization Supply Chains”. The various side events including the Innovations Café, the Manufacturers Marketplace and the Partner Poster Gallery will also be organized.
The overall intention will be to facilitate:
- North-South exchanges on innovative technologies and approaches to ensure vaccine supply chain logistic systems reach the 5th child
- South-North & South-South exchanges on field and country experiences relating to immunization supply chain and logistics strengthening within the context of new vaccine introduction and the deployment of new technologies and approaches to achieve coverage and equity objectives.
- South-North exchanges to help the global level shape and prioritize efforts as we count-down to 2020.
