Francis (Kofi) Aboagye-Nyame

Mr. Aboagye-Nyame is the Program Director of the USAID-funded Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) Program. In this role, he guides MTaPS’ efforts to strengthen pharmaceutical systems by providing strategic vision and program leadership to technical teams and managerial staff worldwide. With more than 25 years of specialized experience in health and pharmaceutical systems strengthening, Mr. Aboagye-Nyame has particular expertise in supply chain management, quality assurance, pharmaceutical financing, capacity building, leadership and organizational development, regulatory affairs, medicines policy, strategic planning, program implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. Previously, he held senior leadership and management positions in the Rational Pharmaceutical Management (RPM) Program Plus, the Supply Chain Management Systems (SCMS), and the Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems (SPS) Program, including Program Director of the Systems for Improved Access to Pharmaceuticals and Services (SIAPS) Program and Program Director and Technical Deputy Director of SPS. During his time with SCMS, he provided program and technical support to projects in Botswana, Ethiopia, Namibia, and Tanzania and, while on the RPM Plus program, was the project lead on the Namibia pharmaceutical sector strengthening project under PEPFAR. Kofi, a pharmacist by training, served as deputy program manager of the Ghana National Drugs Program and as head of the Procurement Unit at the Ghana Ministry of Health. In addition to earning his degree in pharmacy, Mr. Aboagye-Nyame has also earned two master’s degrees in pharmaceutical analysis and quality control and in business administration. He is a fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists and the Ghana College of Pharmacists.
