IMPROVING ACCESS TO MEDICINES IN AFRICA DURING THE COVID PANDEMIC — A FOCUS ON LOGISTICS & SUPPLY CHAINS STRATEGIES

COVID-19 has shown the limitations of globalization and global supply chains, which have been easily disrupted due to the various lockdowns and the unprecedented demand of medicines and health products in many territories. This has led to shortages or constrained supplies of essential medicines, including ARVs, antimalarials and PPE, as well as the potential for increases in substandard and counterfeit products. Moreover, the costs of these essential medicines and other health products for both governments and patients have escalated.

This Connect Conversation, a collaboration between PharmaConnect Africa, PICMA AFRICA, and Pharmaceutical Systems Africa, will discuss the state of pharmaceutical and health product logistics and supply chains in Africa and what innovations and interventions are required to improve them and enhance service delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

Moderator Dr Lloyd Matowe, Pharmaceutical Systems Africa and PICMA AFRICA LIMITED. Date: Thursday, 27th August 2020 Time: 15.00 – 16.30 Central African Time
