Joe Ruiz
Joe led health and humanitarian supply chain programs at The UPS Foundation working with UN agencies, Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, and other int’l organizations to drive health equity in under-resourced countries. As the Vice President of Social Impact at The UPS Foundation, Joe developed innovative public-private partnerships focused on enhancing the capacity of health systems, donating tools, training and skilled supply chain expertise to ministries of health. During the global pandemic, Joe helped underserved communities to receive over 100 million vaccines, through donated training, tools and delivery of ultra-cold vaccines.
Joe also partnered with Gavi to help facilitate the creation of Gavi’s Strategic Training Executive Program (STEP 1.0) and also helped launch life-changing last mile delivery models in multiple countries across Africa. Since retiring from UPS, Joe serves as the Vice-President of Strategic Partnerships for Red Lightning, a non-profit that leverages skills-based supply chain experts to support health system strengthening and humanitarian response initiatives. Red Lightning provides technology, training, and skilled volunteers that expand and enhance health system professionalism.
